Amigos (2023) Movie review – Movieholik |
What is the movie Amigos about and what was the reviewer’s opinion of it?
Amigos is a Telugu movie about three friends who meet and become good friends when they realize they look exactly alike. Starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, the movie is written and directed by Rajendra Reddy. The review states that the movie has a good storyline but is marred by faulty execution. The first half of the movie focuses on Siddharth and his pursuit of Ishika, and their romance is insipid. The movie picks up only when Manju and Michael enter, but then the cliched scenes and dialogues kill the momentum. The climax is too long drawn, and the review feels that if the story had been written better, it would have been a good film. The music director and cinematographer have done an okay job. The review gives the movie 2.5 stars out of 5.
Amigos Movie Technical Aspects
The music by Ghibran is just about okay and doesn’t stand out. The cinematography by S Soundar Rajan is decent and captures the scenic beauty of Goa effectively. The editing could have been crisper, especially in the second half which drags on for far too long.
Overall, while the concept of doppelgangers is interesting and Kalyan Ram’s efforts to differentiate between the three characters are commendable, the film’s execution falls short. The first half is slow and uneventful, and the romantic track between Siddhu and Ishika lacks chemistry. The second half, while having some thrilling moments, is let down by a predictable and cliched storyline.
Final Verdict
Amigos had the potential to be an engaging and entertaining film, but unfortunately, it falls short due to its flawed execution. Kalyan Ram’s triple role is the highlight of the film, but the lack of chemistry between the lead pair and the predictable storyline make it a one-time watch at best. It’s worth a watch for Kalyan Ram’s performance, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
