The series has solidified its place among the best-selling and most popular manga of all time, having been licensed by Viz Media in North America. The story of Haikyuu!! follows the journey of Shoyo Hinata, a small but determined middle-schooler who aspires to be a star volleyball player. Shoyo is inspired by a talented player from Karasuno High School, which ignites his passion to join his school’s volleyball team. To his surprise, he’s the only member of the group, but that doesn’t stop him from dedicating all his time to training. Despite his efforts, Shoyo is defeated in his first official match by Tobio Kageyama, who becomes his rival.

In the following years, Shoyo passes his exams and gets accepted into his dream school, Karasuno High School. However, much to his surprise, Tobio is also his classmate. The two join the school’s volleyball team, and the story takes off, chronicling the trials and tribulations of their high school volleyball experience.

The anime adaptation of Haikyuu!! has also been an enormous success, with four seasons having been released so far. The first season was produced by Production I.G and aired in 2014, followed by seasons 2, 3, and 4 which were aired between 2015-2020. The anime has also been complimented by a series of compilation films summarizing the events of the anime. The film, titled Haikyuu!! the Movie: Ending and Beginning, Haikyuu!! the Movie: Winners and Losers, Haikyuu!! Genius and Sense, and Haikyuu!! Battle of Concepts was released in 2015 and 2017 respectively.

Haikyuu!! has not only captured the hearts of manga and anime fans, but it has also expanded into other forms of media. The series has a video game, a radio drama, and a series of stage plays in Japan. The anime is licensed by Sentai Filmworks and is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
